Ivy Green is a full-year program with thoughtfully planned breaks throughout the year. Families do not need to arrange separate summer care outside these scheduled closures.
When is Ivy Green closed?
Ivy Green is closed for the last two weeks of August, a winter holiday break, select professional development days, major observed holidays, and a spring recess period. Families receive an annual calendar well in advance.
Why does Ivy Green take a two-week break in August and additional breaks during the year?
Ivy Green’s calendar is intentionally designed to support the well-being of children, families, and educators.
For children, breaks provide time to rest, reset, and enjoy unstructured family time. Many families travel in late August, a period when most summer camps and seasonal programs no longer operate.
For educators and administrators, these pauses allow for reflection, preparation, professional development, and curriculum planning. This ensures classrooms and learning environments are fully prepared and allows our team to return refreshed and present.
We believe a strong learning community depends on balance. By honoring periods of rest throughout the year, Ivy Green supports healthy minds and bodies while maintaining the quality, intention, and care that define our program.

How does Ivy Green approach behavior and social development?

Families are valued partners in this process, and communication is prioritized whenever additional support is needed.
What is your policy when children are sick?
To support the health and well-being of our community, children who are ill should remain home until they are well enough to participate fully in the school day. Ivy Green follows state health guidelines and maintains clear illness and exclusion policies, which are shared with families upon enrollment.
How do families stay informed about their child’s experience?
Ivy Green Preschool prioritizes clear, open communication with families. Through our school app, parents receive regular updates and photos of their child's daily experiences, along with important information such as diaper changes, feeding schedules, naps, and classroom activities.
Our educators also maintain ongoing communication with families through personal conversations, scheduled conferences, and regular updates, ensuring parents remain informed, connected, and involved in their child's learning and development.

Yes. Ivy Green maintains allergy-sensitive protocols and provides nutrient-dense snacks. Individual dietary needs are discussed in partnership with families to ensure appropriate support within our program.
Does my child need to be toilet trained before enrolling in the 18–36 month program?
Children in the 18–36 month program are not expected to be fully toilet trained prior to enrollment. This stage of development is transitional and highly individualized.
Children should be actively working toward toilet training, and Ivy Green partners closely with families to support this process. Educators provide consistent routines, encouragement, and age-appropriate guidance to promote continuity between home and school.
Toilet training at this age is viewed as a shared responsibility. Readiness varies, and accidents are a normal part of learning. Our approach is patient, respectful, and responsive to each child’s developmental needs.
